Kids are funny

I don't think that a day goes by that my kids don't make me laugh. They say the darnedest things. Yesterday Cam was on the phone with my mom and Colby was talking to me really loud. Cam put the phone aside and yelled, "Colby be quiet I am on the phone." I had to laugh because I know exactly where he heard that from!

Colby came home from school the other day and asked if boys could be friends with girls. We said yes of course they can. And he said, "Good, there is a new girl in my class and she was born in 2001 and January 30th. Can you believe that? The same day as me!! So, I want to be her friend. No one else in my class was born in the same year and the same day!" I hope that not a day goes by in their lives at home with me that they don't make me laugh. It makes me stop and appreciate them and realize just how much I love them!

Fall Field Trip

This last Thursday, Cam's class had a field trip to Hee Haw Farms in Pleasant Grove. We took Colby out of school so he could go too. They had a blast running through the corn maze, picking out a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch and sliding down the huge hay slide. I debated going because the weather here was so bad and snowy, but it was gorgeous on the other side of the mountain. I'm glad we went!

My sick kids

My boys have been sick for like the last three weeks. AHHHHHHH!!!!! Fevers, stuffy noses, sore throats... I am sick of them being sick. I hope they get it all out of the way before the baby is born though, so at least it is now and not in December. Cameron got Laryingitis after being sick for a few days. His voice was so cute. at first it bothered him that he could not talk very good which was sad but he soon got over that and keep on talking a lot like normal. I got him on video every chance I got. He sounded like one of Donald Duck's nephews, so cute. He was that way for about two weeks and is finally starting to get better. Colby never did loose his voice, but complained of a itchy throat. Anyway..... that's what we have been up to the last few weeks. We are now getting geared up for Halloween! I don't know why but I really like Halloween, I think it is such a fun holiday. Colby is going to be a ghost and Cameron a Bat "that pretend sucks blood!" Hopefully it won't be too cold here Halloween night and they can get in some good trick-or-treating. They will be on Fall break that week so there is no school which will be nice. My camera has been on Hunting duty lately so I don't have any new pictures to post. I will hopefully have some good ones on Halloween. Only 6 more weeks until this baby is supposed to be here!!! I was ok with not knowing what it is until lately. I have just been dying to know if it's a girl or a boy. Six weeks can't come too soon! Although that means that we will have to decide on a name and we are not having any easy time with that. Coming up with a third boy name is presenting quite a challenge. Name or no name, I can't wait! Well, that is pretty much all that I have to say tonight. Until next time....

Beautiful Fall

This last Sunday we went for a drive up in the Mountains. I can't even describe how pretty it is with all the colors. It really makes you thankful for this beautiful earth we live on. There is no doubt that this is my favorite time of year, the scenery around here is breathtaking. I will be really sad when all the color is gone and the bare trees just await their first covering of snow. Although the mountains and the tress covered with freshly fallen snow are quite pretty, they don't compare to the fall beauty. For those of you who don't live in a place (uh, Phoenix)where you get to see the fall leaves, I am really very sorry. But I have posted some pictures so you can look at them and pretend you are seeing them in real life!!!

So we are finally all moved in and sort of settled in our new house. It is only a year old and feels so clean!! And the best part, no spiders, yeah! Last weekend Colby was quite sick, now it's Cam's turn. The poor guy has been sleeping most of the day. I have to say that Cam is a way easier to care for sick person than Colby. Colb almost never gets sick and so when he does he lives it up. He loves to be the one that is sick so he can pick the movies, get Sprite, and just lay on the couch and not do anything. Last weekend when he was sick and we were moving, he kept saying, "Cam, I can't help move because I am sick and I just have to lay here. So you are going to have to move stuff for me." Now that Cam is the sick one and he gets to pick the movies and the drinks, Colby wants to be sick again!! For Cam, once the medicine kicks in, he acts ok, but not Colb, he milked it for all it was worth!! It's funny how different they are.

The other day, Cam and I put up our Fall/Halloween decorations. Cam was going through the boxes faster than I could keep up with. He would put things around or move things that I put out, then say, "Mom, I moved that Pumpkin because it looks more perfecter over there." He was quite the little helper! My boys are great!

We are Nomads

The Davis Family is officially Nomadic. We could move up to Russia and live with the Nomadic Tribes that still roam the land and fit right in. After consulting with the Orkin Man and other pest control experts, we have learned that our house has a spider infestation and there is nothing we can do to get rid of it. The Hobo Spider is really hard to get rid of. Spraying with poison won't fix the problem, the Hobo Spider is not really affected by the poison. The best defense against them is to have other spiders around that the Hobo sees as competition, but when you spray the poison, all the other spiders die so you eliminate the competition. Someone we talked to said that this house is uninhabitable. So as much as we hate the thought of moving again, that's what we get to do starting tomorrow. After killing 6 spiders in the house in 24 hours, we decided that it wasn't worth the risk of one of us or the kids getting bit so here we go moving again. And the saddest part, is that there is not anywhere in Midway for us to live so we have to move over to Heber. At least the schools here are open enrollment so we can keep Colby in the same school. We just have to change wards again, ahhhhh!!!!!!! Maybe one of these days my family and I will know what it is like to be stationary, until that day I guess we will just have to enjoy moving!!! I couldn't post another picture of gross spiders, so I put some cute pics of the kids back in August at Jenny Lake up in Teton National Park in Wyoming.

What A Great Way to Start the Week!

And not just any ole harmless house spider, a HOBO Spider. Since we have moved into our house we have killed about 20 spiders in the house and countless in the garage and outside. We killed a huge one last night inside then I found this one this morning in my bed room. AHHHHHH!!!!! I hate spiders, and the HOBO is categorized as "Dangerously Venomous". I would seriously rather have mice in my house. We have sprayed our house twice with Ortho Home Defense, once before we moved in and then again about a week later, it is killing all of the bugs except these Spiders. So today, I am done with Spiders, I am calling the Orkin Man. If I have to leave my house for a few days so he can soak it with bug spray it will be worth it. It freaks me out to think that my kids could get bit, and I don't want to bring a new baby home with these spiders. So, wish us luck in our battle with "Dangerously Venomous Spiders"! Isn't this a great way to start off the week!!! At least the weather is great!!

Summer Mileage Log

I took the time to add up all of the miles that the boys and I traveled this summer, and it is crazy. 6,300 miles and 6 states, all driven in a car! That explains why I am done traveling for awhile! Mark was way more than that at 15,500 and 7 states. The pictures above were taken in Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. One of our last Saturday's there we rented a convertible and drove up to the park. It was really fun not even the rain dampened our day! Now the kids want us to buy a convertible!

Family Life

Yeah!!! Life is getting back into a routine. I never took myself for a routine person, but after not having one for so long it is really nice to get back into one. Colby is still loving school, and said that he likes going to school because it is better than staying home and doing nothing! The other day when I asked him what his favorite part of school was, he said it was that he finally learned the names of the girls that chase him at recess!!! Colby is very much a social butterfly and seems to have lots of friends at school. Although he complains about the girls, I know he likes the attention!
Cameron loves preschool. He is making lots of friends, and is doing great. It is good for him to have his own thing. His favorite friend at school is a little boy named Swatcat. Cam kept talking about Swatcat, and I would ask if that really was his name. He said yeah mom, it's a funny name but it really is his name. I thought maybe Cam was just getting his name wrong, so today I asked the teacher, and sure enough that's his name. He is from Lithuania, so maybe it is more common over there.
Both boys started soccer this week and love it. They can't wait for their next games on Saturday. They are on different teams and it is really fun to watch them play.

The weather here is getting cooler and Fall is in the air!! Yeah! This is my favorite time of year. I will be really sad though when fall turns to winter because that means snow, and I am just not ready for snow. After last winter in Denver, I could go years without snow. But for now it is gorgeous and I will enjoy it while it lasts. If anyone is coming up here for conference, take the time to go for a drive in the mountains and you will see what I mean.

To everyone from St. Johns, I have to apologize for the colors of soccer jersey's my kids are wearing. The colors of the high school here are Black and Gold, and I don't think that I will ever really be ok with that! At least the mascot is not the Elks! Although it is the Wasatch Wasps, I don't know which is worse!!! Park City, the rival school is Red & White, go figure!

The View!!!!

So here it is, the view of Mt. Timpanogas from my house. It is getting more gorgeous everyday as the leaves change colors. Some of you may think its not so great, I guess you just have to see it in person to really appreciate it. I have lived on both sides of the Rockies, in Colorado and here, and this is still by far my favorite view. So anyway... I will try and get some pictures and updates of the family on next. I just don't seem to have a big enough block of time to do it all at once.

Finally moved in!!!!!

Wow, it has been a while since I have posted anything. But it has been a while since I have been near sane enough to do pretty much anything!!! We are now officially living back in Midway, Utah. After a really long six months of not being sure where or when we would be moving, it is really nice to be able to put our feet down. I got the view of Mt. Timpanogas that I wanted, and I love it! I will post pictures when we have all of our computers unpacked and connected to the Internet. Colby started 1st grade and is doing well. He loves being at Midway Elementary with his old best friends Ben and Eli from preschool. Cameron starts preschool tomorrow and is so excited he just about can't stand it! I am excited too! Three days a week I will have both kids in school!! Yeah for me!! Well, only until December when the new baby comes, but still I am excited. Mark of course is the most excited to be back. There is a chill in the air and the leaves are changing in the mountains, Hunting season is in full swing and Mark couldn't be happier! He takes the boys with him sometimes so I am happy too! Well, this is about all I had time to write for now. When we get more unpacked I will post some pictures and you will all be jealous I get to live in such a gorgeous place!

Mt Rushmore

Our first stop on our trip was in Cheyenne, Wyoming. We took a tour of the State Capitol. The animal pictures are from Bear Country USA near Mt. Rushmore. Then Chimney Rock in Nebraska. And of course Mt. Rushmore. If you look close at the picture of the elk, you can see 4 more big bulls laying down in the back. These bulls were huge! Of course it's not the same as seeing them in the wild but they were really big. In the bear area there are over 100 bears and 20 wolves.

4th of July

The barn in the picture is not to far from our house. We thought it was cool that they were flying the flag on the 4th. The flag is on the right side of the picture if you can't see it.

Crazy Busy Summer!!!

It is hard for me to keep this updated because my husband works from home and uses this computer all day. Today he is at a golf tournament, so I am seizing my opportunity to use the computer for more than 60 seconds at a time!

So far this summer we have been gone from home more than we have been at home. We just finally spent our first full week at home. But now are going to be on the road again. We'll just enjoy it while we can! After a couple of house hunting trips to Midway, UT and leaving empty handed, we found a place to rent in Midway while we keep looking for a house. So we will really be moving the end of August. Hopefully the housing costs start to come down in the fall and winter and we can get a better deal on a house. Over the 4th of July my parents came up to CO and then we all went on up to Mt. Rushmore in South Dakota. We were really impressed with the place and had a great time. There is tons to do there and Mt. Rushmore really is AWESOME! Colby still talks about it. I totally recommend the trip to anyone. It is one of those things that you have to see for yourself to appreciate. And there are lots of other touristy things to do there too. On our way home we made a detour through Nebraska and went to Chimney Rock. It is the rock out in the middle of the prairie that stick straight up like a chimney. The pioneers used it as a landmark. There are lots of pioneer stories about Chimney Rock. It was really neat to see.

I am posting some pictures of my boys that I took last week in our back yard. They are so grown up and handsome! Colby is Mr. Toothless! Who do you think they look like, me or Mark?!!

Fathers and Sons

Tonight is Fathers and Sons, so I have a whole 24 hours to myself. The boys just left and I am not quite sure what I am going to do with my time. The opportunity for me getting time alone at my own house just doesn't ever happen. In fact, I don't think it has ever happened before, so this really is a day to remember! I am debating whether or not to go to the mall and get Cheesecake Factory for dinner, or just stay home and order Papa Johns Pizza. What a dilemma! Hopefully all goes well for the boys and they don't come home early. You never know about this crazy Colorado weather, it could start snowing! I am attaching some cute pictures of the boys this last week fishing in Midway. Cameron caught an 18 in Trout and Colby caught two smaller ones. The boys were so excited to catch the fish, and Mark was excited to eat them.

So back to my night alone... so far so good even though it has only been 10 minutes, Mark hasn't called yet so thats a good sign!

House Hunters

So, do any of you watch the show House Hunters on HGTV? I really liked to watch it and couldn't wait until it was me that was the one "house hunting". Well, after spending a week "House Hunting" in Utah, I am convinced that the show is totally misinforming us as to the real process of looking for the perfect house to buy. It's not easy and is quite stressful and frustrating. Maybe we are just to picky and are making the process harder by trying to find a house that meets all of our demands, but I figure after 7 years in school we deserve to be picky.

So after an unsuccessful week on the hunt we came back to Colorado a little depressed and sick at the cost of housing in Utah. It is ridiculous how much houses cost. We could buy a mansion here in Denver. Hopefully the market starts correcting itself and prices come down a little. But I have to say that even after all of the frustration, I am still so excited about finally owning my own house. After spending the last 7 years renting and moving every year, we are ready to settle down. Finally all done with school! YEAH!!! Not to mention that we kinda need to be somewhere before December 5th so we can have baby number three!!

Our perfect house has to have a view like this, not to much to ask right?!! Isn't Midway gorgeous.
