Presidents Day

Because I will be in Arizona on Presidents Day and won't be able to post anything, I am going to share my thoughts now. Last summer I had the opportunity to go to Mt. Rushmore with Mark and our boys and my parents. It was kind of a last minute trip and since none of us had ever been there before we were hoping that it was going to be worth the 6 hour drive from Denver. I can tell you that we were not disappointed it was AWESOME! Seeing those carvings in person is 100% different than seeing pictures. The feeling of patriotism was overwhelming. We did the museum tour where you learn all about the amazing history behind the carvings. Before we got there we thought that we would stay for maybe 30 minutes just to look at the mountain, but we ended up staying for hours. My boys loved it and ask when we are going back, they can even tell you the names of the presidents! (FYI- from left to right-Washington, Jefferson, Roosevelt, Lincoln) Right now with all of the Presidential Election chaos going on, I like to remember Mt. Rushmore and remember the history of this country and the sacrifice that our forefathers went through so that we could live like we do now. I really hope that as citizens we can find some way to stand up for what we believe is right and protect what these men fought so hard to give us. Lets keep America the great nation that it is so that we can always be Proud to be Americans!

Funny even when sick...

Colby woke up yesterday with a very high fever and just not feeling well at all. When Mark told him that he didn't have to go to church, he pumped his fist in the air and said, "yes!" So this morning when he woke up he still had a fever and was still quite sick. He was so excited that he didn't have to go to school. Out of the blue he started telling me that he "hates movies with happy endings!" He says that those kinds of movies are not good because the people are all happy and lovey and kissing and hugging. Where in the world did he come up with this idea??? He said that he liked Scooby Doo so much because it just has normal endings! Kids are funny even when they are sick! These are some of my favorite pictures of Colby from last year.

I Love this Kid!

Today after Cameron got home from school, he was very bored because Colby is really sick and couldn't play with him. So mom had to be his play mate. We had a snowball fight, made macaroni neclaces, and fixed dinner. While we were fixing dinner Cam said "I am talking a lot. I am going to quit talking, I'm sick of hearing my voice!" I could only laugh and agree that he sure was talking a lot. Not talking only lasted about 15seconds though. The only time the boy is quiet is when he is asleep. Since I don't have fun new pictures to post, I put these from last year, they are some of my favorites from the Denver Zoo.

My Lamp Post

If I wait any longer to dig to my lamp post it is going to be totally burried by snow. This is another picture to show just how much snow we got last Sunday. (Again the pictures were taken 5 days apart.) In this picture you can't see the park bench anymore. To see the picture from before just scroll down a little.

Big Storm

Last Sunday we had the biggest snow storm we have had this year. Church was even cancelled, now how much snow does it take for that to happen? These two pictures show how much snow we had in this one storm. I took the top picture on January 29th and the bottom one on February 3rd. Crazy crazy snow!

Two Months Old

This baby makes me smile all day long. He is so darn cute and sweet and fun! He is talking and cooing and even laughed yesterday. He has also started to stare at his fists and get this look on his face like "I really want to put that thing in my mouth." I know it won't be long until he is crawling and walking and turning a year old, so for now I am just enjoying every minute.

Finally Broke 40

Today for the first time in I don't know how long we actually got above 40degrees(I think we hit 41)!!!!!!!! It was a wonderful, wonderful thing to see the snow and ice start to melt, and be able to see parts of my driveway. Even though the sun was blinding with the glare off the snow, and the roads are so wet and cars so so dirty, it was great to have the sun!! We just might have an end to this winter, but just in case I am going to knock on wood!!

I found it!!!!!

I finally saw Mr. Tumnus today and he helped me find the lamp post so we could get out of here. However, it make take a few days to dig our way to it.

Has Anyone ever been to Narnia?

I'll bet that you all just thought you knew where we lived, but I think it's time you all knew that we live in Narnia. We have huge Ice Palaces, and even an evil Queen. I mean come on, look at all this snow. I took these pictures yesterday and then last night we got another foot of snow. It's never going to stop snowing!!!!!

I mean just look at this. Like this gate I feel snowed in, literally!

This is how we get to our house! Well, we don't actually have to use snowmobiles, but some people do. Some days though, my steep driveway is so icy I have to park my car on the street.






This is my sons school. He brings his sled to school to play with at recess. When I think that it is going to be to cold to play outside, he says, "mom, we only have to stay in if it is below 10 degrees outside." Duh mom, it's only cold below 10 degrees!

Look who is 7

 

Happy Birthday Colby! I can't believe that you are already 7 years old. It sure has been fun sharing my birthday with you these last 7 years. (we won't mention how old mom turned today!) You sure have learned a lot and grown a lot, sometimes I wonder if you are 6 going on 27! I hope that this is a great day for you and that you know how much dad and I love you.

What's cool at our house!

As I was going around my house picking up I got to thinking about how the toys I am picking up now are different from the toys I picked up last year or even a few months ago. It's fun to see how my kids interests change. Some of them are old favorites like Scooby Doo, Pokemon and Legos, but everything else seems to have it's season. Here is what's hot at our house right now. What's hot at yours????

i don't want to get old

So last Saturday, we had an interesting visitor at our house. It was about 5:30pm and I was in the kitchen doing my sis-in-law's hair, Mark was in the lazy-boy playing with the baby, and Colb and Cam were watching a movie when the door bell rings. Mark sends Colby to get it, Colby opens the door and just stands there. Mark tells me to go to the door and see who it is. When I get to the door, there was a little old lady trying to get in the door. I let her in and shut the door, and she asked if she was where she was supposed to be. She went on about how she was supposed to be at our neighbor's house to clean for them but they were not home, so she came to our house to see if she could use the phone to call her son to pick her up because she didn't have her car. She went on and on and wasn't making any sense at all. After about a minute, it occurred to me that she had probably walked away from the old folks home about 1/2 mile from our house. She was not wearing a jacket or warm shoes, and she had half a sandwich wrapped in a napkin in her hand. I invited her to come in and sit down while we called her son to come get her. She kept telling us that her son owns the Cummings Diesel place here in Casper and that he was going to pick her up after she was done cleaning. Oh man it was so sad. She thought that she was in Casper, Wyoming, and her poor little hands were so cold. It was about 18degrees outside and who knows how long she had been walking. It was a miracle that she even made it to our house, but we were so glad she had the sense of mind to knock on our door. Mark left the room and called our friend Jason who is an EMT and was on call that night. Hilary and I talked to her and tried to get her to wrap up in a blanket, but she wouldn't, she just kept talking about how she had stopped at my house the last time she needed to use the phone. Finally Jason got there and convinced her to let him take her home. When they pulled up to the care center, she said "I don't live here, and I will not live here. Is this your house?" The people at the center didn't even know she was missing. We feel that she was definitely being watched over that night, if she hadn't knocked on our door she would have died out there in the cold, we were blessed to have been able to help her. I really really really don't want to get old.

New Years Eve

So I know I am a little late putting these pictures on here but oh-well. Brant and Kacy came up to visit over New Years weekend, I was so excited for them to come. When you live so far from family, it is so so so much fun when they come to visit. Mark was gone to AZ for work and a little hunting in SJ which made their visit even better for me since I wasn't alone the whole time Mark was gone. We were not able to do too much with the baby and all, but I really enjoyed having them, I hope you had fun too Brant and Kacy! Mark and Brant went snowmobiling for a day and had a good time until they decided to leave the trail and got stuck and spent a long cold hour trying to get unstuck! Anyone else up for a little snowmobiling, come on up, can't promise not to get stuck though! So for our New Years party, we played games of the kids choice, then watched Myth Busters and everyone but Hayden and I fell asleep about 11:00pm, only he and I were up to ring in 2008!

It's been a long long winter

Just like last winter in Colorado, I have the spring fever already! I have never been more ready to move back to Phoenix than I am now. Even after all of the moving we have done lately, I would trade the snow for sunshine, and 15degrees for 115degrees. I know that in July I might be singing a different tune, but for now, I hate winter!! Having a new baby makes winter harder too. The poor little guy hasn't been outside except for to get into and out of the car. Anyway... to make my day a little brighter, I look at these cute pictures of my boys, at least they can have fun in the snow!

One Month Old!

Yesterday, the 4th, Hayden was one month old. And to celebrate, he gave mom his first real smile!! It was so fun to see his little face light up and see him smile. After all of the long sleepless nights, it is so rewarding to have him smile, it gives me the boost I need to make it through another night! I love having this sweet little boy in my home.

Happy New Year!

We had a great Christmas with our three boys, and are looking forward to a great new year. It has been so fun having Hayden in our home, his sweet spirit fills our hearts and home and we all love him so much. It has been almost four weeks and I am still trying to figure out how to take care of three and still get done all the things I used to. I think what I have to figure out is how to not worry if all the things I used to do don't get done! The laundry and vacuuming can wait! Colby and Cameron are great big brothers and are very eager to help me with the baby. They also loved Christmas. Santa sure found our house, he left way too many gifts! I am not sure who was more excited for Christmas morning, the kids or me. I love watching them open presents and seeing their reactions. Kids sure make the Holidays more fun. The best part of the whole day was watching the kids use their new sleds on a hill by our house! There was a jump already there and boy did they catch some serious air! Sledding is now Cam's favorite activity.

So farewell to the year 2007, and welcome 2008! 2008, the year I turn 30, ahhhhh!!! I am getting old!
