The LAST DAY!!

I DID IT!!  I made my goal of posting every day in November! (I cut it close though because my super nice neighbor called at 5:00pm and asked if Mark & I would like 2 tickets to tonights Jazz game that started at 7:00pm.  Lucky for us Marks mom could watch the kids so we could go.  THANKS SO MUCH Chari for watching the kids & Valerie for the tickets!)
I can't believe it is actually the last day of November but it is and I am excited.
Bring on Christmas!

Today was actually a very nice suuny day.  This cute little boy was able to shoot some hoops while I hung up Christmas lights outside. 
Hayden LOVES basketball and could "shoot it" all day long, longer if someone will "shoot it" with him.  I don't know what I will do with him when he can't go outside and "shoot it".  He even cheers for himself & says "good shot" when he makes it or "oh, I missed" when he misses.  He really is the cutest thing I have ever seen & heard. 

Thanks for staying tuned to my month long posting marathon.  I think I will take a few days off now.
I have to make my house look like Christmas and that takes lots of time and effort!!  And I do it all for my dear husbands enjoyment.

Thanksgiving Weekend

 A few days ago I borrowed the movie Mary Poppins from a friend.  My kids have never seen it and I think they should see it.  So this evening when the boys wanted to watch TV I told them they could watch Mary Poppins!  I did not get very happy responses and it took the first 20 minutes of the movie for them to stop complaining and actually watch the movie.  Colby actually told me that he was trying to go his whole life without watching any old classic movies, especially musicals! 

Where did he get an attitude like that? 
Certainly not from me.
Dad maybe??????

We had a great weekend and LOVED having my parents here.  All of us are always so sad when they have to leave.   It was nice to see Ryan and Julie and kids & Emily too. 

Some highlights of our weekend:
1. Cameron lost a tooth and got $4 from the toothfairy!  Grandma said that the toothfairy pays DOUBLE when grandma is here.   (Colby tried his hardest to loose a tooth too while GMa was here!)

2.  Colb and Cam went with the Davis' too see the movie Blind Side.

3. My mom and I braved Provo on Black Friday.

4. Cameron & Jacob made lots of BUGS in the bug maker.

5. Colby, Mark & GPa Heap went to watch a BYU basketball game.

6.  Mark and they boys went bowling with Mark's family.

7. My Aunt and cousin came down from Ogden and my mom and I got to go out to lunch with them. 

8.  Colb & Cam got to play lots of Wii bowling games with Gma Heap.

9. Hayden decided that he needs to wake up at about 3am every night and scream for mom to let him sleep on the couch.  I only fell for it the first night.  The rest of the nights he had to cry himself back to sleep.  Luckily he only cries for about 15 minutes.

10. Mark, Ryan, Emily & Ron went to a Jazz game and had seats right behind the visiting team.  We could see them on TV everytime the ball was on their end of the court.  The kids thought that was sooo cool. 

11. Aunt Emily made train cakes and let the kids decorate them with LOTS of candy!

12. My mom brought me some of the most darling clothes and blankets/quilts for the baby girl!

13.  BYU beat Utah in an awesome game. 

14. The fall decor has been replaced with CHRISTMAS and I LOVE IT! 


For some reason there is no spellcheck, I hope there are not too many misspelled words!!

Kinda sad for the Sun Devils though. 
They almost had UofA beat.

Thanksgiving Eve

I am THANKFUL that my parents are on their way to my house to spend Thanksgiving with us.
I am also THANKFUL for my friend Kathy who called and asked if she could bring over her dinner to share with us.  Thanks Kathy.


Cameron:  I am THANKFUL for bananas.

Colby: I am THANKFUL that our friends are letting us borrow their Wii for a couple of weeks.

A Couple of Things

I am THANKFUL for funny kids!
The other day Mark asked me if I had seen the note that was taped to Cameron's wall. I had seen it and laughed really hard at it. I also made a mental note to tell Mark about it and take picture of it.
Apparently my mental notes slip from my mind really quickly and Mark saw it before I remembered. There really is TRUTH to saying that pregnancy kills brain cells, I have a hard time remembering anything at all these days.
ANYWAY... back to Cameron's note.

Here's what is says, in big people language just in case you can't decipher the six year old spellings.
"Tell mom in the morning that Colby kicked me in the pinkie!"

I guess when you are six and you are not supposed to get out of your bed unless you want to be in HUGE trouble in the morning, this is what you do to remind yourself of your brothers transgressions against you. Isn't it the goal of every younger brother to make sure that the older brothers get in trouble for every misdeed?
What's even more funny is that Cameron just happens to have tape in the drawer by his bed! And, he never remembered to tell us that Colby kicked him in the pinkie!
I really love the funny things kids do everyday!

Another thing I am THANKFUL for this week is the phone call we got on Sunday from Kristy, Mark's younger sister, telling us that she will be getting MARRIED in January!
After graduating from BYU in 2006 Kristy moved to Washington DC to attend George Washington University for a Masters Degree in Interior Design. She graduated from GW a year ago and decided to stay in DC and then earlier this year finally met "the one".
We got to meet Jordan this summer when he came to Utah with Kristy and we all liked him a lot. The kids really liked him and hoped that he would be their uncle. Jordan is from Virginia so there is a HIGH likely hood that they will always live back east but that gives us reason to get out there every once in a while!!
We are so excited for Kristy and Jordan, she is the first of Mark's three sisters to be getting married. We hope that soon we will see some little Kristy's,(no pressure though guys)!

Cameron: I am THANKFUL for Family.

Colby: I am THANKFUL for toilet scrubbers.

I told them to think of anything to be Thankful for and at least Colby is being honest. One of his chores is scrubbing the toilet once a week and I guess a toilet scrubber is better than a toothbrush or something!

Thanksgiving Week

Today I asked my kids what they are "thankful for" and here's what they said

Cameron: I am thankful for my family.

I am Thankful for three great kids. They truly are a blessing.

Metro Tint

Today we get to see this Uncle!
My kids are so excited to see Uncle Mark & Aunt Tish and Lauren. They drove up to Idaho to get Lauren and move her back home and are stopping by today on their way back to AZ. We only wish that their other four cute daughters were with them too. We don't get to see them nearly as much as we would like to.
And when you live so far away from home and family it is such a great day when some of them come to town even if it is for only a couple of hours!


****UPDATE: Uncle Mark, Aunt Tish and Lauren never made it to my house yesterday.
STUPID SNOW!!!!!!!
We were SOOOO SAD we didn't get to see them. Come up again guys, we missed you and hopefully the weather cooperated better today and you get home safely!

Day 21

I'm afraid that the days of snow are not far away. Today was cold and a little snowy.
At least I have these two boys to shovel for me! Look how good they were way back in Dec. 2005.

Cookie Turkeys, a Davis family Thanksgiving tradition. Now the kids like to make one for each person that will be a dinner and write the names on little cards to set on the table as seat markers. I just picked up all the stuff today to make them. Only 4 ingredients needed and no prep for mom, you buy everything premade! So easy.

I think he could give the celebrity singer a run for his money in the CRAZY HAIR deptartment. Hayden just wakes up this way, doesn't even have to try and no gel or hairspray required.

I love it!

Mark took the kids just now to take some brownies to some friends. I am supposed to be making dinner while they are gone. But here I am, blogging instead!
Don't tell him!

I have a cold too. It is getting worse everyday. Today I feel totally wiped out and drained of any energy that I may have had. I could pass for Rudolph too, my nose is so bright red from all the blowing.

Yesterday I had some good news though. My mom and dad are coming up to our house for Thanksgiving!!!!!!!! YEAH!!! We decided a long time ago that we were not going to make it to AZ for any of the Holidays until after the baby comes. So to have my mom and dad come up here is GREAT news for us!

Ok, I better get back to dinner. As long as it's ready when the boys get home it's all good right?!

***UPDATE: after finishing this post I put a pan with some oil on the stove and turned it on to heat up a, then I went to the bathroom. Forgetting that I had oil warming on the stove I started reading the new magazine that I had just put in the bathroom. oops.
Pretty soon I could smell the smoke, then the smoke alarm.
I ran out, opened the doors and windows and turned on a fan in an attempt to get the smoke out.
Little did I know that the alarm system that was installed by the previous owners was still hooked up to alert the fire dept when the fire alarm goes off. I knew that alarm was going off because it was very loudly saying "FIRE ALARM FRONT DOOR, FIRE ALARM FRONT DOOR ,FIRE ALARM FRONT DOOR!" but I had no idea how to turn it off.
Pretty soon the alarm stopped so I left the doors open and the fan blowing and returned to fixing dinner. But then I hear a car drive up and walk to the open garage to see who it is.
Any guesses???

It's the police and a fireman! Oh boy did I feel dumb. I told him it was just the smoke alarm and that all was ok. He wanted to know why the alarm was going off in the first place and then said, "were you fixing dinner?" like, we get this all the time; women fixing dinner and smoking out the house.
I apologized and explained that I didn't even know the alarm called them and that I would learn how to turn if off before it happens again. He says, "well, you need to take care of that soon because if it keeps happening we will have to issue you a citation." Then he asks me my name and says are you related to Cory Davis? Yeah, Marks cousin who is a county deputy. I reluctantly say yes we are related because I know that he will tell Cory then Cory can tease Mark! Great!
Anyway..... the officer and fireman leave and I get back to dinner again.
Mark and the boys arrive home about 10 minutes later and want to know if I burned the dinner because the house stinks and is about 40 degrees from having the doors open! After explaining what happened and Mark laughing at me, his phone rings. It was his friend Jason who is a firefighter and was on his way in the fire truck to our house when the police officer said it was a false alarm!! Great! The whole town is gonna know. Not to unlike living in St. Johns I guess.


Moral of the story- don't blog or use the bathroom while you are supposed to be cooking dinner!

Book Reviews

I was finally able to finish my book on Sunday night after everyone was in bed.
It was GREAT!
Catching Fire is the sequel to The Hunger Games, both books suck you in. The story is unlike most other books I've read. I won't reveal much, but I will say that sometimes I found myself wondering what was wrong with me that I was enjoying the crazy story in the books. Did anyone else feel that way? Yet, you can't put them down! If you read them you'll understand what I mean. I'm pretty sure there is going to be a third book and that it will come out next September. If you are looking for some good Holiday reading do yourself a favor and read these!

Last week I also read this book, (below). It was really good and an easy read. I just saw on her website that they are making a movie out of it. I will have to see it.
The story line in the book is based off the Grimm's Fairytail Story of Rumpelstiltskin.
As far as I know there is just one book. It's not a series.


Ok, so I did a lot of reading last week!
But I have been wanting to read this one for awhile and when the library finally had it in I couldn't pass it up. Promises To Keep is a follow up book to the Hearts of the Children series and Children of the Promise series by Dean Hughes.

I started reading Children of the Promise about 10 years ago and loved them so much I bought all 5 books in the series. Then Bro. Hughes came out with the next part of the story in Hearts of the Children, also with 5 books and I have all of them too.
If you are going to have a whole lot of time during the Holidays read these books! You can even borrow them from me if you want!

If anyone has any good book suggestions for me to pick up PLEASE pass them on. I have a trip coming up and I will have LOTS of time to read. Four days without kids or a husband = lots of time to read and shop with my mom and sis-in-laws!

Day 15.  Note to self: don't start a new book on a weekend when all of the family is home and very demanding of mom's time and attention. 

So I haven't finished the book I started.  I can't get in 5 uninterruped minutes to read it.  Tomorrow when it's just Hayden and me home I will have more time.
