Yesterday, Saturday, Halloween Day, or the day with lots of names started out at the Davis House with a MILE LONG list of "Things to Do". The kids had a list, Mark had a list which kept growing because I kept thinking of things I needed him to do. Thanks Dear! And I had a list, which included a dinner party at my house.
Thankfully it was a GORGEOUS day and the kids were able to enjoy being outside while Mark cleaned out the garage. I really wish I had before and after pictures of the garage because he did a really through job of cleaning and organizing, it looks great!

When most of the chores were finally done we set out to carve pumpkins. I had bought one of those carving kits with the tools and patterns to carve really cool pictures. Had I known that those patterns would almost send me over the limit of my patience I would not have used them. From now on it's a Black Sharpie and a cute traditional jack-0-lantern face for us!.jpg)

I did attempt to roast the seeds and they actually turned out great! They were a nice addition to my appetizer line-up at dinner.
All day long and for a few days prior, Colby had been telling me that he was going to go trick-or-treating with his friends after dark. I'm sure that to him and his friends the thought of being able to wander around sans parents after dark was thrilling! For me however, the thought of my 8 year old doing that was not even funny! We do live in a really safe place where we know pretty much everybody, but like I was going to let him!!Being his persistent self, he never gave up on his dream and bugged me until bedtime. He was mortified that he was going to have to walk down the street before dark with his mom and little brother in a stroller! OH the Drama.
Then when I asked him to let me take a few pictures he could only glare.
I'm pretty sure I am the Meanest Mom on the block!
Even though in the picture below it looks like he puts on a pretty mean Ninja face, don't be fooled. He is scowling at me!.jpg)
Cameron however was pretty easy to please and was very cooperative.
Can I keep him from ever turning 8?
BATMAN
This Karate Kid is a DOLL! He would not wear the karate belt though so you don't get the full cuteness effect!

Hayden, doing some Karate kicks on the trampoline.

Colby, still scowling. Hayden, mad that we made him get off the trampoline!

Our friends, the Hamans came to trick-or-treat with us.
Anna was a jelly fish and I thought her mom did a great job on the costume.

I really do love Halloween and we did have a Great day. The Tortellini Soup even turned out great and dinner was a success.
Bring on Thanksgiving!

p.s. Did colby survive?
Great pics April! The boys look SOOO cute! I'll have to show my boys in the AM.
Such a cute post! I totally laughed when I saw Hayden's costume...maybe it was just the hair...so fun!
I would be the same way if my kids asked to trick-or-treat all alone. I would make sure they know that's never gonna happen! I'm WAY too cautious. Even if I have to walk 100 feet behind them so they will feel more independent, but they will never go alone :)
