One year ago today I posted this. It was such a scary time for our family and I am so glad to have it behind us.
Last week Cameron reminded me that it has been a year since he had Guiliian Barre' and he knew this because he remember having to miss his Valentine Party at school. I still can't believe that Cam had to go through that, it makes me sad if I think about it too much. I do know though that he was so very blessed and has continued to be blessed in his recovery over the past year. Looking back and seeing all of the blessings that our whole family recieved is overwhelming and so humbling. It's easy to forget how much the Lord loves us and we too easily take our life and our health for granted. It's been good for us to remember just how blessed we are and then Thank our Father in heaven for all of those blessings. (THEN)

What's up with this? What is it he had and why?
I'm so glad he's all better :) I love the picture at the bottom...it's much more fun than the one of him looking sooo small in that large hospital bed. You're SO right...we should never take our lives (our health) for granted :)
Susan, Guillian Barre' Syndrome is a Nuerologial disease that's pretty rare. Cameron got it after having the stomach flu. He was totally paralyzed up to his neck and had to re-learn to do everything. Most cases end up with the person being on a ventilator for a long time because their windpipes become paralyzed and they can't breathe. When Cam ended up in the hospital he was almost to that point, he was aspirating everything he ate or drank and had lost his voice. He was truly blessed to have not gotten any worse. He was in the hospital for 16 days and came home still in a wheel chair. He had to do lots of out-patient therapy but he really recovered very fast. The Dr's are all still amazed at how quickly he recovered. They have never seen one recover so fast. He still has a few after affects, but they are very minor and he doesn't notice them at all. It is a nasty disease and I hope no one I know ever gets it again.
These are my favorite posts...the ones that show what you've overcome and how you've been blessed. Let's hope 2010 continues to look up!!
