Today was a first!
I have been a mom for almost nine years now and until today, I have never had one of my kids call 911.
When there was a knock on my door at 9:15am I had no idea who it might be. But as I approached the door I could see through the window that it was a police officer. My heart started racing. My first thought was that something had happened to Mark, he is out hunting. Then I thought he might tell me that we need to move our boat that is parked on the street. As I opened the door the officer was looking at me like "are you ok?" and then said, "we had a 911 call from this address, is everything ok? Your phone is still off the hook."
I am sure the look on my face was great because I had no idea what he was talking about. Hayden was standing there with me so I asked him, "did you play with the phone?" He smiles and says, "I push buttons, phone, over there." and points to the phone on the couch.
I walk over and pick up the phone, sure enough, the number on the screen are 911111111!!! Hayden is standing at the door talking to the officer, whom I sure is totally bugged at this point. I apologize over and over and assure him that everything is fine.
He turns around and looks at the toy gun laying on the front porch and asks Hayden if it is his gun. Hayden says, "no, it's Tam's gun, Tam at school." I then try to explain that we have two older boys and that it's just a toy gun, because I guess from a distance it could look like a BB Gun. Who knows what the officer was thinking as he said goodbye and walked away!!
Thanks Hayden. You broke my perfect record. I still love ya though.

Liam did that once when he was about 3. He was a sleep with me in my bed and crawled down and was playing with the phone. Next thing I know there is a knock at the door and it is a police officer. I am still in just my g's so I run back to my room and throw on some clothes to answer the door. He said that there were two 911 calls and the phone was off the hook. He asked if he could come in and check to make sure everything was okay. I was so embarrassed because my house was a mess. He just talked to Liam about calling 911 and about how his Grandpa is a policeman too. The whole time I am thinking thanks Liam for this wonderful wake up call. :)
Oh April I am so sorry but I am sitting here laughing, that is really funny. I am sure it was not funny at the time to you but thanks for tha laugh this morning... Hayden is so cute, I love it!!
I love it! But you have a few more calls to go to catch up with Tuffy's record. However, Tuff dialed 911 on purpose about 3 times when he was in 1st grade. If he got home from school and I wasn't there (because I was out running errands and NOT getting a coke with Misty) he would call 911 and tell them I wasn't home. Thank heavens we live in SJ and Jim was the Chief at the time. However, his officers did get annoyed having to track down the "lost mom."
My kids did this once while I was in the shower. The cops came by while I was blow drying my hair upstairs and I couldn't hear them...they almost beat down my door! It scared me so bad. I thought someone was breaking into my house.
I can't believe the stomach bug through your whole house, how aweful for you! Good thing it's over! The pics of UT are so so beautiful! I can't wait to be there next fall...I'll come and see you!
