Day 15. Note to self: don't start a new book on a weekend when all of the family is home and very demanding of mom's time and attention.
So I haven't finished the book I started. I can't get in 5 uninterruped minutes to read it. Tomorrow when it's just Hayden and me home I will have more time.
I can't wait!

A Royal Announcement
HEAR YE, HEAR YE
The three Princes of Davis Castle are proud to announce the not to distant arrival of a Princess who will be joining their family.
Prince Colby, Prince Cameron and Prince Hayden are so very pleased to share this announcement with the world.
The King and Queen share in the Princes' excitement and can not believe that a Princess will finally grace the halls of Davis Castle. It is certainly something that the Queen had given up hoping for and she is not quite sure she should really believe it until the child is born and she sees for herself that is really is a Princess. The King is very excited and has no idea what he is really in for when the Princess arrives and he is immediately at her mercy!
With only a little over 12 weeks until the arrival of the Princess, the Queen is busily trying to prepare a room, complete with pinks and purples and darling princessy things. It is quite an overwhelming task as there are just way to many pink and purple things to choose from.
One thing is for certain though, and that is that this next Valentines Day will be the best one the Royal Davis family will ever have!

I've been thinking of doing one myself only I don't have great sponsors to donate their stuff to give away so sorry doesn't look like I will really ever do one! Just a fun thought.
Hayden and I tackled the messes in the basement today. Well, I tackled them and Hayden made them bigger! I did get a lot done though and it feels really good to have it done. I guess there is some good in having nasty weather, it forces you to stay inside and get things done!
Still no snow thank goodness. It's supposed to come tomorrow though.
For some reason I am really anxious to take down all of the Fall decor and put up Christmas. Is it too early for Christmas stuff? Because that could be tomorrows indoor project. My husband would die though, especially if I set iTunes to play my Christmas play list! Oh, I think I will, Christmas music while it's snowing outside, I might even have to light the Christmas candle.
And Emily and Lindy I think, besides my mom who doesn't count, you two are the only ones who picked up on the hidden message from yesterday!
Yes it's true. And to let you in on a little more of the secret; Emily, I will finally get to use all of the great stuff from my shower in CO!

hear the wind blow

Somedays I really wish that I were a good writer/storyteller.
Today I really do.
If I was I would be able to describe how I can hear the wind blowing outside, hear it whistling through a crack in a window that isn't closed tight. I may even say that I can feel the snow in the air, I know it's coming. Maybe not today, but it's close.

As I was sitting here listening to the wind and wishing I were a good story teller some thoughts popped into my head about my ancestors. Now, if you know me you know that I think about my ancestors on a daily basis and love to learn all I can about them. But today the thought was; what if one of my female ancestors was a good story teller and could tell about a cold, windy November afternoon? Her house was very still and quiet because she had just put the 2year old down for a nap. And she sat down in her rocking chair to catch up on some knitting and she could hear the wind blowing through a crack in her window and could feel the snow in the air. She knows winter is close to showing it's nasty snowy cold face and she does not look forward to it. Maybe she would think about the upcoming Holidays and think that atleast winter does have those to offer. Thanksgiving, Christmas, two boys and her husband with birthdays, as well as her own birthday. Deep into the winter she looks forward to the birth of her fourth child and Valentines Day. Yes she has lots to celebrate during the winter, it's just to bad it comes with cold weather and snowy roads.
That's as far as I got in my thoughts about how cool it would be to read a story like that written by my great-great grandma and see just how similar her life is to mine. Only difference is I sit down in my quiet house to catch up on my blogging not knitting! Maybe someday my own great granddaughter will have a day just like today and she can enjoy reading this when she sits down in her quiet house to catch up on .....?? (who knows what life will be like 40 years!)

Almost Forgot
Ahhhh.....I almost forgot to post something today.
But, I didn't. I'm still on a roll.
We had a really busy day today. Glad it's almost time for bed.
Just put Hayden to bed, but the other two are watching BYU basketball with their dad. Mark really enjoys watching sports with his boys and I have a hard time saying "NO" even when it puts them up way past bed time.
Boys and dads need that time.
My boys really like the BYU b-ball games because we have a friend on the team, so I guess I really can't say NO.
I guess the only thing for me to do is to get myself ready for bed and go watch the Food Network in my room.
DARN! I hate when thats my only option.

Rewind
Remember when Cameron broke his leg?
I do. It was so sad.
Luckily he doesn't remember it.

Colby had sympathy pains and needed to have a cast too.

Sing
Today in church my boys had their Primary Program. Thus putting an end to the endless complaints about how much they "did not want to stand up there and sing."
They are counting down the years until they are 12 and don't have to participate in anymore Primary Programs.
Colby has three more and Cameron has five!
And poor Hayden hasn't even started yet.
Yesterday, Saturday they had to go to the church in their Sunday clothes to practice for the program. I can't tell you how many times I heard from both of them that "the Primary teachers were just trying to ruin their Saturday!" Their complaints and attempts at getting out of participating ran the gamut and lasted right up to the last minute.
I had some pretty good laughs.
I can't say though that I don't understand their attitudes, I'm pretty sure I counted down to my last Primary Program too, and I know that Mark did!
It was however a nice program and my boys did their parts very well.
I sure love you Colby and Cameron and I will miss your smiling faces when you are not in Primary anymore.

Holiday Lanes
We did end up going bowling yesterday and it was a whole lot of fun!
Hayden was even a pretty good kid.
I think we are going to have to do this more often. Especially in the winter!

After bowling we had a babysitter come because Mark and I had a dinner date with some friends from Colorado. 4 other couples/families have moved to Utah from CO since we moved. It was great to see them. Mark even managed to get the whole table dinner, drinks and dessert for FREE! That's what restaurants will do for their customers when the server accidentally trips and spills a few sodas all over one of them. Thank goodness Marks shirt and jacket are machine washable! Thanks CO friends, it was a fun dinner and it was great to see you all.

Day 5
I bet you were all thinking that I was going to miss posting today.
Well, I almost did, but I didn't.
Well, I almost did, but I didn't.
I'm kind of out of ideas though so I went through some old pictures and found some great ones of Colby.
Posting old pictures of the kids will give me days of subject matter.
I don't think there is a picture that makes Mark and I smile more than this one of Colby on his scooter. It will forever be our favorite. If you remember Colby in this stage of his life you may remember why we love it so much. He was such a character!
The boy did not care that mom forgot his swim shorts for Jordan's b-day party. This will embarrass him someday though!
The fun you can have with Fruit Roll Ups if you use your imagination! He is even asleep with the things on his face.

If you know me, you know I LOVE chapstick!

I read on my friend Emily's blog that November is National Blog Posting Month.
Yeah.
Who knows who actually said so, but the challenge is to post something everyday.
So far I am 4 for 4.

Today's post is about something I saw on another friends blog and when I saw it at Walgreens a couple of weeks ago I bought it and I love it. I'm not sure if I love it because it is so fun looking and fun to use or if it really is great stuff. But either way, I do love to use it.
There are a few different flavors/colors and I got the pink Summer Fruit flavor. My boys won't use it because it's pink, so I guess that's another bonus too, it is something that is actually just mine!
Soooooo.........if you happen to see this next time you are in a store, buy it. It's worth the $2.50 because it is so fun to use!
*Thanks Susan for the recommendation!

It's November 1st
Yesterday, Saturday, Halloween Day, or the day with lots of names started out at the Davis House with a MILE LONG list of "Things to Do". The kids had a list, Mark had a list which kept growing because I kept thinking of things I needed him to do. Thanks Dear! And I had a list, which included a dinner party at my house.
Thankfully it was a GORGEOUS day and the kids were able to enjoy being outside while Mark cleaned out the garage. I really wish I had before and after pictures of the garage because he did a really through job of cleaning and organizing, it looks great!

When most of the chores were finally done we set out to carve pumpkins. I had bought one of those carving kits with the tools and patterns to carve really cool pictures. Had I known that those patterns would almost send me over the limit of my patience I would not have used them. From now on it's a Black Sharpie and a cute traditional jack-0-lantern face for us!.jpg)

I did attempt to roast the seeds and they actually turned out great! They were a nice addition to my appetizer line-up at dinner.
All day long and for a few days prior, Colby had been telling me that he was going to go trick-or-treating with his friends after dark. I'm sure that to him and his friends the thought of being able to wander around sans parents after dark was thrilling! For me however, the thought of my 8 year old doing that was not even funny! We do live in a really safe place where we know pretty much everybody, but like I was going to let him!!Being his persistent self, he never gave up on his dream and bugged me until bedtime. He was mortified that he was going to have to walk down the street before dark with his mom and little brother in a stroller! OH the Drama.
Then when I asked him to let me take a few pictures he could only glare.
I'm pretty sure I am the Meanest Mom on the block!
Even though in the picture below it looks like he puts on a pretty mean Ninja face, don't be fooled. He is scowling at me!.jpg)
Cameron however was pretty easy to please and was very cooperative.
Can I keep him from ever turning 8?
BATMAN
This Karate Kid is a DOLL! He would not wear the karate belt though so you don't get the full cuteness effect!

Hayden, doing some Karate kicks on the trampoline.

Colby, still scowling. Hayden, mad that we made him get off the trampoline!

Our friends, the Hamans came to trick-or-treat with us.
Anna was a jelly fish and I thought her mom did a great job on the costume.

I really do love Halloween and we did have a Great day. The Tortellini Soup even turned out great and dinner was a success.
Bring on Thanksgiving!
