Colby's still sick and I am dead tired!

So this is me after being up with a sick kid and a nursing baby all night. I feel like I need to be wound up again so I can get through the rest of the day.
And this is Colby, resting, not so happily in his bed.
Colby was doing so well and seemed to be totally getting over his Mono, but then this week he started coughing and looking worn out so I, being the mean mom that I am, didn't let him outside to play and ride his bike. He had to stay home and rest after school instead of play and if you were to ask him, his life was totally over since he could not play. Anyway... yesterday he went over to the neighbors house while Mark and I were at scouts and while he was there he got the chills and a fever and just laid on their couch. Great! is what I was thinking. He went right to sleep when we put him in bed but then woke up at about 11pm screaming in pain. He was saying that he hurt under his right arm and he was burning up again. After more Motrin, he fell back to sleep but moaned and groaned all night. He woke up again at 3am in pain again and wanted me to sit with him until he fell asleep. After about 20 minutes he fell back to sleep, but was up again within 30 minutes. By that time Hayden was waking up wanting to eat, so Mark brought Colb downstairs and slept on the couch with him. Long story short, he cried all morning in pain and we finally got to see the Dr. at 11am. This is what we found out..... he still has mono, he has a cold a bad one, he has asthma, that's why he is coughing so much, and the pain in his arm is from a rib sprain called a Costral Chondral Sprain which is not serious and will heal it's self. It just means that the joint where the rib cartilage meets the rib bone has an infection in it probably caused from the mono. So I give him Motrin for the pain and fever, he is on an oral steroid and an inhaler for the asthma, (which he is trying to learn how to use!) and is ordered to get lots of rest for the mono. The poor kid is so sick. And let me tell you, he is not the easiest sick kid in the world, I totally have my work cut out for me! At least we are starting Spring Break and he won't miss anymore school. He was invited to a late night party tonight though and is beside himself that he can't go. He keeps telling Cameron how lucky he is that he is not sick. I guess Mark and I will have to have a late night party at home for Colb. So....don't let your kids get mono, it's not east to get them to get all the rest they need which makes it really hard for them to get over it. Not that any of you would let your kids get mono, but you know what I mean!

Oh, April I feel for you. Sick kids are never any fun, but when it takes a long time to get better it's exhausting. Hopefully he feels better soon. Take care of yourself. Send me your e-mail so I can add you to my approved readers.
